ACTIVITIES for SURVIVAL WEEKEND on Aug 12th & 13th,2022

Pick up a list of self-directed activities available to help you explore the park on your own during your visit. Our Park and Naturalist staff are available to assist with any self-directed activities, maps, questions, or programs you may have.

Welcome Center Hours: Sun thru Thurs.-8am-4pm -Fri and Sat - 8am-10pm

Friday, August 12th

6p-8p - Naturalist On-Duty Nature Room OPEN. Come see & help feed the LIVE animals. Visit the fish mural, history exhibit, bird observation window & view a short orientation during your visit. Check out the NEW Bigfoot Display area and relax on the deck.

 

Saturday, August 13th

9a-10a- Naturalist On-Duty Nature Room OPEN. Come see & help feed the LIVE animals. Visit the fish mural, history exhibit, and bird observation window & view a short orientation during your visit. Check out the NEW Bigfoot Display area.

10a-12n - Archery Shooting- Bows and arrows were the basic primitive weapon used for centuries for survival. Learn the shooting basics and try your skill at shooting at some of our paper and 3D targets. Meet at Shelter house #2.

1p-2p - Flint & Steel Fire Starting- Starting a fire without matches? Sure you can, let us give you the materials and skills to learn how to start of fire using flint & steel. If you are lucky to build a fire, we can roast some marshmallows for some tasty smores. Meet at the Campfire area by Welcome Center.

2p-3p - Map & Compass Basics- Can you navigate you’re way outdoors without a GPS? Let us get you familiar with the basics of map and compass skills. We provide all the equipment you will need. Complete the orienteering course and win a prize. Meet at the Welcome Center deck area.

3p-4p- Survival Bracelet- Make your very own paracord survival bracelet. Pick up your kit and get started.

6p-9 pm- DJ Music on the Deck- Join our DJ on the welcome center deck and request your favorite songs.
